More foreign flyers choosing Turkish Airlines

The participation of Turkish Airlines (THY) in international airways union Star Alliance has led to a rise in the number of foreign passengers flying with the carrier.

THY witnessed strong annual growth of 20 per cent and it is estimated that membership in the union will stimulate growth by an additional ten per cent.

Business to Scandinavian countries alone has risen by 40 per cent and the airline is hoping to nearly double its number of weekly flights to the area. It has increased its air fleet from 65 carriers to over 100 in just three years.

Commenting on the rising number of foreign passengers flying with THY, general director Temel Kotil explained: "That is proof that our brand value is increasing and that we have grabbed passengers from our competitors."

"THY is a strong company among other Star Alliance members. We have the strength to provide quality service. Star Alliance members do not compete, they collaborate," he continued.

StarAlliance is the largest organisation of its kind in the world. Its airlines serve 855 airports spread over 155 different countries with 16,000 daily departures.
